Rosacea

What Is Rosacea?

Though rosacea is a common problem, it is unfortunately poorly understood. This condition usually appears in one’s 30s to early 40s and involves facial flushing, persistent redness, and irritation. As the condition progresses, inflamed papules and pustules can appear usually on the cheek and nose. Rosacea is often embarrassing and distressing for those who struggle with it. Here at WPC Aesthetics & Wellness, we’re dedicated to providing our patients with effective skin care treatments. One such treatment is the ICON ThreeForMe, which is designed to tackle a range of skin conditions all at once, delivering fast and effective relief.

What Causes Rosacea?

Rosacea is caused by drastic changes in one’s immune system. Typically, the main change that must occur for rosacea to appear is an increase in the body’s production of cathelicidin peptide proteins. Over-expression of this protein on the skin results in an inflammatory response that causes redness, enlarged vessels, and irritation characteristic of this condition. This immune response may be genetic, environmental, or a combination of both.

Addressing Rosacea Issues

Skin rejuvenation with the ICON ThreeForMe is a process that exfoliates the skin to smooth pigmentation, reduce the appearance of scars, and improve tightness. While some skin care products can help sustain the appearance of your skin, the ICON laser system can provide more immediate and longer-lasting results. The treatment process involves the use of intense pulsed light against the surface of the skin. This application digs deep below the skin’s surface, targeting rosacea at its source and relieving its symptoms. The ICON laser is the superior treatment for facial vessel clearance.

Results of Treatment

Your ICON ThreeForMe laser session may initially result in some mild swelling, redness, and darkening of the skin. These side effects are completely normal and will subside shortly after your visit. Once these side effects are over, you will notice an improvement in the texture and pigment of your skin. For best results, a series of 3-4 treatments is recommended. Following your procedure, we welcome you to return for follow-up consultations to help us maintain your new look.
