Pediatrics Q & A

Why is pediatric care important?

From the day your little one comes into this world, they need comprehensive pediatric care to ensure they’re healthy and developing normally. Personalized pediatric care is important to:

  • Intervene early if developmental delays are apparent
  • Ensure your child is up-to-date on vaccinations
  • Undergo required school and sports physicals
  • Check for behavioral or learning disabilities
  • Maintain your child’s weight

But pediatric care isn’t just for your child; it’s for you, too. When your child becomes a patient of Waco Primary Care, you have access to Dr. Trippe, who has extensive experience in pediatrics. He’s available as a resource to answer all of your questions and concerns.

What can my child expect during a pediatric exam?

When you bring your child in to Waco Primary Care for a pediatric exam, Dr. Trippe performs age-appropriate screenings and tests to evaluate their health. In addition to gathering your child’s height and weight and comparing them to growth charts, Dr. Trippe may also:

  • Collect a blood or urine sample
  • Perform a vision and hearing test
  • Conduct neurological and reflex testing
  • Provide necessary vaccines and flu shots
  • Check blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates

Dr. Trippe also uses a stethoscope to listen to your child’s heart rhythm, breathing, and bowel sounds. He talks with you and your child throughout the exam to educate you about screening results and any concerns he may have.

How often does my child need to see a pediatric provider?

After the age of 3, if your child is generally healthy, annual well-child exams are highly recommended. If your child is younger than age 3, they need well-baby exams every few months (depending on their age).

Outside of these routine pediatric visits, it’s important to bring your child in to Waco Primary Care if they experience any of the following issues:

  • Fever
  • Lethargy
  • Allergies
  • Ear pain
  • Coughing
  • Sore throat
  • Sports injuries

Dr. Trippe provides pediatric sick visits with flexible scheduling in case your child needs to be seen right away.

If you’re in need of quality pediatric care for your child, look no further than Waco Primary Care. You can conveniently book all pediatric visits over the phone.
